When it comes to celery, there’s one family that you could consider celery royalty!
The Duda family has grown fresh products since 1909, when our founder Andrew Duda first moved to the United States to pursue the American Dream. Leaving everything he knew behind in Slovakia, Andrew Duda settled in Oviedo, Florida and began growing fresh products, including celery, which became popular for their home-grown taste and affordable prices.
Here’s a closer look at Andrew Duda and his sons, who continued the family legacy:
Andrew Duda
Andrew Duda came to the United States in 1909, and began Duda Farm Fresh Foods in 1926 as A. Duda & Sons. Celery became the company’s primary crop, which thrived in the central Florida environment. He had 3 sons to which he passed the company legacy on to.
John Duda
The Engineer – John helped determine the most efficient methods to pack out in the field and had a patent on the mule train.
Ferdinand Duda
The Farmer – Ferdinand loved the ground and loved the earth and helping things to grow.
Andrew Duda
The Banker & Sales Manager – Andrew helped keep the business running until it passed to the next generation in 1975.
